Saint Gobain Research India (SGRI) is a cross functional R&D center of Saint Gobain based in Chennai, a subsidiary of Saint Gobain, SA France.

Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR/CEFIPRA) is a binational organization set up by Government of India and Government of France in 1987 with the mandate to promote collaborative research between India and France in cutting edge Science and Technology through research projects, seminars/workshops and encouraging PPPs. The Centre receives financial support from the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, Government of France.
In a first ever initiative of the centre in a PPP (Public Private Partnership Mode), CEFIPRA entered into a MoU with SGRI on 23rd October, 2013 during Indo-French Technology Summit, to launch a programme of “sustainable habitat for hot and/ or humid climates”. The areas of interest were:
Eligibility
The Indian Principal Investigators (PI) should hold a Permanent position as a scientist/faculty member in universities/deemed universities/academic institutes/ national research and development laboratories. Indian PIs will need to further identify their collaborator from SGRI.
Research funding
The selected projects will be funded to the Indian PIs for the following components as per CEFIPRA's norms and guidelines:
SGRI will find the PIs, appointed by them for the joint project
Intellectual Property
The rights of intellectual property (IP) arising from the program shall be worked out bilaterally between SGRI and the pertinent research institution collaborating with SGRI under this programme before the project is finally selected for funding.
